I approached Miller Metcalfe purely owing to brand recall and seeing them advertised in and around the locality. I had also assumed - wrongly - that they knew the Bolton market well. Firstly the valuer was 30 minutes late - I had to ring and ascertain where she was - not helpful when you have taken time off work to accommodate an appointment. She then sat in my kitchen and proceeded to tell me what she valued the house at - after hardly asking any questions and taking a quick 5 min tour of the property alone. I was then sent a valuation that was quite frankly - insulting. I also had three more agents value the property - all of who came in above what we had envisaged getting for the property in the first place. Had I listed the house with Miller Metcalfe as advised we would've lost 60k. They clearly used Zoopla and other 'data' as oppose to looking at the property in its own right and the massive renovation work we'd undertaken as well as the finish we had achieved. I also received an email after specifying that I didn't wish to proceed with them from a 'senior valuer' that also said the property had been valued correctly. At this point I rang their central office to complain and was dealt with by an extremely unpleasant man - who further solidified my already dim view of Miller Metcalfe. I could never recommend MM to anyone - discourteous, misinformed and unprofessional. If I could give this business one star - I would, but Google requires you to at least give one star to be able to leave a review. I rarely write reviews but on this occasion I feel other people should be made aware of the poor service. Absolute disgrace.
RENTING (Harwood):I would give 0 stars if this was possible.Their customer service is next to non-existent. When we gave our notice period of leaving there was one problem after another after another (you get my drift.). It seems they do not reply to emails unless you copy the Managing Director into the email. (It is freely available to find his email address on the internet).It was so bad, that for 2 months AFTER moving out (with all rents paid & up to date) they were still asking for our rent for that month on a property we had vacated!The list seems endless (I could keep going on about the issues we had over the 3 years) and I would avoid at all costs. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM.

Beyond dire customer service from the Bolton team. The house a family member intended to buy with the team was broken into before the sale went through and the team were completely uncooperative, refused to cooperate with the police who needed to investigate the house as a crime scene as the sale had not completed. Won't complete now because who would buy a destroyed house for the price of a perfectly liveable one?
