Brilliant way to spend an afternoon. I brought a group of ladies and gents with dementia some years ago, and they had a fascinationg time going back down memory lane. Visited again with 3 members of my family, and the 2 gents, one local and one originally from the midlands, made us SO welcome; on hand to advise and explain, we were otherwise free to wander and ponder. The Victorian and WW2 exhibits are always there but the changing display was of the WW1, very interesting. There are also filed folders of photos and information. Cards, booklets and small things to purchase reasonably. The centre is free to access but very well worth a good donation. Smashing place to discover. What a privilege it was to share WW1 memories here today. The diligent research that has been ongoing for the past four (or more) years to make today's event so enjoyable was unbelievable. Many thanks and congratulations to all concerned.
Excellent resource for local history
I support them as much as I can the team who puts it together for ever exbition are brilliant too. The winter hill air disaster is running at the moment and well deserved a look at.
Great place to see what a wonderful place Horwich used to be. The historical resources are invaluable. They even have sunlight soap that's nearly a hundred years old and still smells better than dove!...The people who run and work at the centre are a treasure trove of interesting and invaluable knowledge about the local area to and are a credit to the town, they make me a splendid brew when I visit to....and it's free! Happy visit...
